Newsletter kickoff 🎉
The HackMIT 2021 season is kicking off, and so is our newsletter! We'll be emailing once a month with updates from the HackMIT team, including important news on our hackathon's logistics, community spotlights, opportunities from our sponsors, and more. Stay tuned—we're so excited to show you what we have planned!
HackMIT Goes Hybrid 🤖
This year we’re holding HackMIT as a hybrid hackathon—meaning you have the choice of attending HackMIT in person on MIT’s campus OR from your ergonomic gaming chair at home. As we continue to receive updates on COVID-19 restrictions, we’ll let you know which hackers are eligible to attend in person; right now, we’re hopeful that a majority of hackers will be eligible!
Registration has opened at hackmit.org, and the application deadline is Friday, August 6, 2021. You're eligible if you're an MIT undergraduate (M.Eng students included!) OR a college undergraduate over 18 years old. Answers to other frequently asked questions are available on our website!
We know this might be confusing, so feel free to email us at help@hackmit.org if you have any questions or concerns!
Hacker Secret Society? 🔑
Hackathons are great bonding experiences, but why stop there? The HackMIT team is excited to invite you all to our newest initiative—a hacker community for all hacking fiends! We hope that this community will be a place for hackers to complain about bugs, form teams for hackathons, chat about life, and more—the rest is up to you!
If that sounds like something you’re interested in, join our Discord today!
Every month in this newsletter, we’ll also highlight some of our community activities. We’ll have spotlights on our Instagram and Medium for both the HackMIT team and community members, so be sure to keep an eye out!
Opportunities from Sponsors 🌿
Microsoft's Neurodiversity Hiring Program has full-time software engineer opportunities available for students and recent graduates; more opportunities will be published later!
Neurodiversity in the Workplace connects qualified neurodivergent talent to career opportunities with inclusive employers. We strive to eliminate the biases that job seekers with social differences face in job interviews. We do this by replacing standard hiring processes with direct skill demonstrations to hiring managers. To be considered for full-time roles at our partner companies, please fill out our form here.
Two Sigma is a financial sciences company, combining data analysis, invention, and rigorous inquiry to help solve the toughest challenges in investment management, insurance technology, securities, private equity, and venture capital. During our summer internship, you will partner with an assigned mentor and work on a single project, which culminates in a final presentation. Apply today!
